Technology

Three technologies, developed over more than thirty years alongside textile manufacturers.

Lubrication with antistatic paraffinic oil

In 1994 Nuova Rimates patented Lubrifil, a system that lubricates yarn with oil instead of solid wax on winding and doubling machines.

The principle uses the yarn's own movement: during winding the yarn runs in a zig-zag over a small oil-impregnated frame and is lubricated only while moving. Oil distribution is more even and consistent than with wax.

The same principle is applied to weft on the loom with Lubry Small and to knitting machines with Lubry Knit.

  • Much lower yarn friction
  • Fewer breaks, snarls and machine stops
  • Less fluff and dust
  • No power needed: no electricity or compressed air (Lubrifil)

Dry fog: humidity without wetting

In HUMY humidifiers, compressed air and water are mixed in a nozzle and atomised into droplets so fine that they disperse in the air without settling: department humidity rises quickly while machines and floors stay dry.

The nozzles are self-cleaning: an internal needle keeps the water passage clear and prevents scale. An air/water regulator with a micrometric screw sets the droplet size.

The fog is spread by motorised nozzles (Humy Ceiling over 360°, Humy Plant up to 180°), from a mobile unit (Humy Room) or directly on the loom warp (Humy Loom).

  • Fewer yarn breaks and higher tenacity
  • Less static in the air and on textiles
  • Dust and airborne fibre brought down
  • Cooler working environment

Steam and heat: yarn moisture regain

Yarn that is too dry harms every downstream process. In the Humy Vap chamber, packages are treated with steam and heat until they regain the correct moisture content.

The touch-screen controller sets cycle time, relative humidity and temperature; a microprocessor measures humidity and temperature every 2 seconds and shows a live trend graph.

  • Removes static from the yarn
  • Softer hand for wool, cashmere and linen
  • Yarn weight regained
  • Higher yarn strength and elongation
